The GOP Midterm Strategy Admits It All: Why Hate Politics Is the Biggest Risk to Your Financial Future
When Politics Becomes a Hate Machine, Your Money Pays the Price
When a Republican tied to Trump’s operation openly says ‘voters have to hate the Dems more than they hate us,’ that tells you everything you need to know about where policy is headed. I walked away from that headline, literally went for a walk along Bay Shore in Tampa, because what I read was not a political strategy. It was an admission of failure.
This is where we are as a country. Not a debate about ideas. Not a competition between competing visions for economic growth, fiscal responsibility, or individual liberty. Just raw, manufactured hatred designed to drag one side slightly less low than the other.
And for anyone paying attention to their financial future, this should concern you deeply.
The Orwell Parallel Nobody Wants to Talk About
I brought up George Orwell’s “Two Minutes of Hate” from 1984 on the show because the parallel is impossible to ignore. In the book, party members were forced to watch enemies on a screen and vent their rage. The purpose was never really about the enemy. It was about burning off discontent and keeping people distracted from what the party was actually doing.
Sound familiar? Republicans put up Bernie or AOC. Democrats put up Trump and Elon. Everybody screams. Nobody asks the hard questions.
- What is actually in the 1.15 trillion dollar National Defense Authorization Act?
- Why is the Pentagon receiving sixty billion dollars more tied to ongoing military operations?
- Why are farmers receiving another twelve billion dollars in what amounts to tariff and war-related subsidy payments?
- Why is Congress heading on vacation without passing a budget?
These are the questions that directly affect your taxes, your purchasing power, and your long-term financial stability. But we are too busy hating each other to ask them.
What Conservative Used to Actually Mean
I have been a longtime libertarian-leaning conservative, and I will be honest with you. I do not recognize what that label means anymore. When I was coming up, conservatism meant something specific.
- Character matters. Full stop.
- Crony capitalism is a disease, not a feature.
- Tariffs are taxes paid by American consumers, not foreign governments.
- The Constitution is not a suggestion.
- Government power must be limited and checked.
None of that is what we are seeing from either party right now. What we are seeing is a spending machine dressed in red and blue, churning through trillion-dollar bills while politicians book their vacation flights.
The Financial Reality Buried Under the Noise
Here is what actually matters to your wallet while the media runs its hate programming:
- A 1.15 trillion dollar NDAA is moving through Congress before the holiday recess.
- The Pentagon is absorbing massive budget increases with limited public scrutiny.
- Farm subsidies are expanding again due to fertilizer price spikes tied directly to overseas conflicts.
- No formal budget has been passed, meaning continued governance by continuing resolution, which is a mechanism that locks in wasteful spending and blocks meaningful reform.
Every single one of those line items has a cost. And that cost gets passed along through inflation, higher taxes, and a weakened dollar. Your retirement account feels it. Your grocery bill feels it. Your energy costs feel it.
What I Am Doing About It
I am not going to vote for less bad anymore. That is not a position I take lightly. I spent years believing that incremental improvement was worth something. But when the stated strategy of a major political party is to make voters hate the other side more rather than offer anything worth voting for, I am done pretending that participation in that system is meaningful.
What I am focused on is helping people understand the financial implications of political dysfunction so they can protect themselves regardless of which party is manufacturing outrage that week. The noise is the distraction. The spending, the debt, the currency debasement, those are the real threats.
Tune out the hate machine. Watch where the money actually goes.
